Settled OverseasSomeday Doesn’t Have to Become Never.
The oldest name on the peninsula’s trade route — the Melaka Sultanate’s port, taken by the Portuguese in 1511 and the Dutch in 1641, and inscribed with George Town in 2008 as the Historic Cities of the Straits of Malacca. This page prints no rent figure for it, because no dated individual sample was opened; the gap is the print.
The mover who wants the small, walkable Straits city — Dutch Square, Jonker Street, the river — and who budgets from live listings because this page honestly carries no dated rent sample yet.
Anyone shortlisting on printed numbers: there is no rent figure, and the private hospital depth evidenced here is a public anchor (Hospital Melaka) with Kuala Lumpur about two hours north for the tertiary bench.
This city is one stop, not the whole map. The routes, status duties, taxes, contacts and printed gaps live on the Malaysia page; the planner runs the numbers with ?country=malaysia.
Computed only from the dated samples printed on this page. The full dossier computes it from more listings per city.
The evidenced anchor here is public, and it carries a number the gazette doesn’t. Hospital Melaka’s published foreigner table shows Class 3 admission deposits of RM600 medical / RM1,200 surgical — printed because the Fees (Medical) (Cost of Services) Order 2014 leaves deposit amounts to the Health Ministry Secretary-General, so the hospital’s own table is the document (country page, checked 8 October 2026).
No private international-patient bench was evidenced for Melaka in this research; the tertiary depth routes to Kuala Lumpur, about two hours north. That is the whole hospital print for this city — an anchor, a backstop and a routing note, nothing dressed up.
Straits weather — hot and humid, moderated by the sea; the compact core is shaded and walkable, the sprawl beyond it is car country.
No airport of its own: Kuala Lumpur’s airports and the North–South Expressway (about two hours) are the gateways; the river and the old core run on foot and trishaw.
A small multiethnic Straits society — Malay, Chinese (including Peranakan), Indian, Portuguese-Eurasian threads — living inside a UNESCO-listed core; tourism is the economy’s loud voice, quieter residential streets the lived one.
No rent figure prints here — any Melaka budget built today starts from live monthly listings, re-verified before travel, never from a figure this page could not date.
Melaka’s state floor belongs to the country page’s dated-secondary table method (state PTG circular governs at consent); no Melaka-specific floor is quoted on this page beyond that discipline.
Founded around 1400, the Melaka Sultanate became the Straits’ great entrepôt before Portuguese forces took it in 1511 and Dutch control followed from 1641; in 2008 UNESCO inscribed Melaka with George Town as the Historic Cities of the Straits of Malacca — some 500 years of East–West exchange in one listing.

Settled Overseas is independent research drawn from official sources captured on 8 October 2026 and first- and second-party listings dated in the text. It is orientation, not legal, tax, medical or financial advice, and it never grants a permit, an insurance policy or a professional engagement.
