Baguio

The highland city sells cool air — and this page prints its one hard truth in the same breath: the newest datable rent sample is from February 2024, and cool is not dry.

Baguio

Who picks Baguio

The mover buying climate: 1,500-metre air, pine-country streets, a university layer, and the north’s referral hospital (BGHMC, authorised capacity raised to 1,500 beds by RA 11889).

Who should skip it

Anyone who needs current rent data to decide — the printed sample is dated 11 February 2024 and labelled, not hidden — or who underestimates the rain: Baguio’s rainfall and landslide exposure is the extreme end of Philippine city weather, and its airport link is a three-hour road to Clark.

This city is one stop, not the whole map. The routes, status duties, taxes, contacts and printed gaps live on the Philippines page; the planner runs the numbers with ?country=philippines.

Budget, separated by life

What a month looks like

Role in the comparison
The highland climate pick: real referral-hospital depth, the stalest rent evidence in this edition, honestly labelled.
Rent sample 1 — dated
2BR, 60 sqm, Green Valley Village: ₱22,000/mo (Lamudi listing, 11 February 2024) — printed as a dated asking sample, explicitly not a current price.
Rent sample 2 — dated
No newer dated Baguio asking sample is carried in this edition. Index-only colour (₱13,000–₱39,900 listings seen scrolling, without dependable dates) is not printed as a range.
Rent evidence quality
One sample, 20 months old at capture, beside an explicit gap for current pricing. That gap is the Baguio finding: verify live before travelling to view.

Healthcare

The north’s referral hospital. Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center is Northern Luzon’s tertiary referral hospital; Republic Act No. 11889 (2022) raised its authorised bed capacity from 800 to 1,500. SLU Hospital of the Sacred Heart and Notre Dame de Chartres complete the bench at institution level (no verified international-desk contact captured). Specialist overflow still routes to Clark or Manila — about 3 hours by road to Clark — and elapsed medevac response times are not published.

Climate & ground feel

Cool, and the wettest city file in this edition. Baguio’s highland rain is extreme by national standards (the historical 1911 deluge exceeded 2,210 mm in under four days), the rainy-season landslide exposure on its slopes is the standing watch-out, and the typhoon season (PAGASA, roughly June–September) still writes the calendar. Slope stability, drainage and retaining walls are first-order rental questions here, not colour.

Getting around

Road-served. Kennon and Marcos highways climb from the lowlands; Clark International is about 3 hours by road. Within the city, jeepneys, taxis and walking on a compact, hilly grid — gradients are part of daily logistics, not scenery.

The people side

A university-and-government highland city. Saint Louis University and the summer-capital institutions keep English deep in services; the mover scene is quieter and more domestic than the freeports’, which is precisely the pitch.

Watch-outs

Do not buy the climate without the landslide paragraph. Ask for the slope and drainage history of the exact building, the typhoon-season record of the street, and a live re-verification of any rent figure — the only printed sample is from February 2024. Cool air is the product; water management is the price.

A short story of Baguio

Baguio was built as the American-era highland retreat in the Cordillera — Burnham Park’s lake at its centre — and remains Northern Luzon’s university, government and referral-hospital city. This page prints it without the postcard’s edit: one February 2024 rent sample labelled with its date, a gap where current pricing belongs, and the rain-and-landslide facts in the same breath as the cool air.
